Multi-Million Renovation Starts at Turning Stone Resort Casino

Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York is set to undergo a multi-million renovation project that would see the addition of new venues and the revamp of existing ones.

The property is operated by the Oneida Indian Nation. The tribe refers to the renovation project for its signature casino as “The Best Never Rest.”

Work has already kicked off at the property, Oneida officials revealed. The project includes upgrades to The Showroom, an event center that hosts multiple touring acts, a new upscale bar in The Lodge, one of the four hotels that make up Turning Stone Resort Casino, as well as enhancements at the resort’s wedding and conference facilities.

It is unknown at this point whether the renovation project would include the property’s gaming floor.

It should also be noted that the resort’s owner plans to reopen its buffet with a brand new look. Turning Stone is set to announce a new name for its buffet in a few weeks. The amenity has been closed throughout the pandemic but will now resume operations with a new format.

Oneida Indian Nation VP for Communications Joel Barkin said that the future of the buffet has been the most frequently asked question by guests.

Enhancements at Concert Venue, All-Suite Hotel

The Showroom and Turning Stone’s other live entertainment venue, The Event Center, have just resumed booking acts for later in the year as pandemic restrictions are being eased across the state.

Renovation plans at The Showroom include a contemporary redesign of the facility with dark mahogany woods, stadium-style seats of premium quality, a new bar in the atrium, and an enhanced sound system and theatrical lighting, among other things.

Mr. Berkin said that the venue plans to book local acts soon to test the new sound and lighting systems.

The biggest new addition at The Lodge will be a 25-foot cherrywood and quartz bar in the Great Room. The new facility will overlook the Great Lawn and golf course. The Lodge is an all-suite hotel with 95 spacious suites with sleek and luxurious designs. It should also be noted that the facility is a Forbes 4-star rated hotel.

Other renovation plans include new decor and guest amenities at The Shenandoah Clubhouse, Turning Stone’s wedding venue, as well as a new decor at its meeting venue, the Cypress Conference Center.

Aside from Turning Stone, the Oneida Indian Nation also operates smaller-scale casinos in Chittenango, Bridgeport, and Sylvan Beach. The tribe’s properties closed for a few months last spring to follow statewide restrictions for curbing the spread of Covid-19. Turning Stone reopened doors for visitors in June 2020 with a set of health protocols that very much mirrored state-mandated anti-pandemic measures. The property has been easing up on the restrictions in the past couple of months along with the state.
